HSE Chemical Legislative Reform Proposal - Fidra response

Since EU exit the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has taken on many regulatory responsibilities for chemicals in the UK.  On 23rd June 2025 HSE launched a consultation on their proposals for Chemicals Legislative Reform for classification, labelling and packaging regulations, biocidal product regulations and prior informed consent regulations. These regulations protect people and the environment from some of the most hazardous chemicals that have been developed. Fidra's response to this consultation outlines a number of concerns about these proposals which lack critical details and could lead to poor decision making affecting our health and environment.
