Are the potential environmental gains from stain resistant finishes negated by consumer behaviour?

A report on the use of PFAS in children’s school uniforms where they are used to produce ‘stain resistant’ finishes.

PFASs (Per- or poly- fluorinated alkyl substances) are a group of synthetic chemicals many of which are linked to major environmental and human health concerns. This report focuses on their use in children’s school uniforms where they are used to produce ‘stain resistant’ finishes. A nationwide survey was conducted including over 600 parents or guardians of primary school age
children to establish whether consumers adjusted their behaviour in response to stain resistant finishes.
